What is the skeletal-muscular system?
The skeletal-muscular system is the system that is composed from bones, cartiledge and muscles which are connect to the bones by tendons (bones connect to other bones by ligaments).
Why is it significant?
The skeletal-muscular system (specifically bones) is used for 6 different functions; providing support and structure to give the body its shape, protecting the organs inside the body, providing movement, storing minerals, blood cell formation or Haematopoiesis and storage of chemical energy through yellow bone marrow.
What is the idea that structure and function are related?
The idea is that the physical structure of an object benefits the overall function of the object for the greatest performance. Like the physical structure of a wheel
being circular, its function is to move from one place to another in the quickest time possible. If the wheel has a square shape than the wheel wouldn’t move at all.
